Molten chocolate cake

Christmas is here and the highlight of this festival is desserts. Baking a delicious cake is everyone’s dream. And when it’s christmas, it got to be done right ‘n rich!

Contrary to my usual choice, this time, I made the eggless chocolate cake. I like my cake with eggs but this particular recipe steals the show! This cake is eggless yet sponge-y and gooey with the melted chocolate.  The good quality cocoa gives it rich texture and color.

Top it with scoops of vanilla ice-cream and it will be the best dessert that you have ever tasted.

To make Molten chocolate cake…

Step by step process

  • In a mixing bowl, take 1/2 cup All purpose flour (60gm).
  • Now add 1/3 cup powdered white sugar (70gm) to the mixing bowl.
  • Then add 1/4th cup cocoa powder (25gm) to the bowl along with 1 tsp baking powder.
  • Mix everything well.
  • Now add 1/2 cup milk (80ml) to this bowl.
  • Then add 2 tbsp melted butter (30 gms) and whisk everything well.
  • Make sure the butter is melted. Also, make sure there are no lumps when you whisk everything well.
  • Transfer this batter to a baking pan.
  • Make sure the baking pan is greased with butter or cooking spray before transferring the batter.
  • Level the batter well and then spread 1/2 cup brown sugar (110gm).
  • Make sure the brown sugar covers the whole surface of the batter.
  • Preheat the oven to 325F.
  • Make sure the oven is ready before you move to the next step.
  • Now add 3/4 cup boiling water (170 ml) to the baking pan.
  • Do not let this batter sit for long time outside the oven.
  • Transfer the baking pan immediately to the oven as soon as you add water.
  • Bake it for 30 mins.
  • After 30 mins, remove the cake from the oven and let it sit for 10 mins and then serve.
  • Do not keep the cake standing for a long time. It needs to be served immediately.
  • If you want to prepare it ahead of time, follow the steps until adding boiling water.
  • You can wrap batter filled cake pan with cling film and refrigerate. You can add boiling water just 30 mins before serving and then bake.
